Senate FISA Vote Postponed Until After Recess
June 26, 2008 09:54 PM
According to McJoan of DailyKos, the good Senators Dodd and Feingold have gotten the FISA vote postponed until after the July 4th Recess. As she puts it: So here's a fantastic opportunity to talk to your Senators, when they're home for the most patriotic of all holidays, about what this bill means to you as a constitutent. If they're having town meetings, please attend and bring up the bill, or try to schedule individual meetings with them.
Here in Illinois, Senator Durbin has already showed his mettle by voting against cloture, and for preserving the Bill of Rights. Give his office a call to say thank you: (202) 224-2152.
Our junior Senator, presidential candidate Barack Obama, was not present for the cloture vote, but has indicated his support for the measure. I don't think it's too much to ask that someone who aspires to take the Presidential oath of office, to raise his right hand and promise to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, should stand up and defend it now.
Here's how to get in touch with Senator Obama:
Senate DC office: (202) 224-2854
Senate DC fax: (202) 228-4260
Campaign: (866) 675-2008 (choose option 6)
