Volunteer and Intern Information

The greatest area of need for volunteer help is in lobbying. By becoming a member you can increase the ACLU's influence in Congress and the Illinois General Assembly.

The members of our Action Alert list volunteer their time when they respond to our targeted e-mails. When important legislation is being considered by their representatives, Action Alert members receive e-mail alerts. The phone calls and e-mails received by legislators from Action Alert members can make the difference.

There is a limited amount of administrative work for volunteers in our office during business hours. These tasks include envelope stuffing, filing, typing and other clerical duties. Outside of business hours we enlist volunteers to help us staff public outreach events, like fairs and festivals.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email us at volunteer@aclu-il.org to receive a monthly volunteer newsletter listing our volunteer needs.
